Muirlands Vista Estate

On the western slope of Mount Soledad, Muirlands Vista Estate looks over La Jolla's canyons and rooftops to open Pacific. It is a single-level house with four bedrooms, and its flagstone patio runs along the ocean side, set up for grilling and long meals outside. WindanSea Beach is within two miles. Two of the four bedrooms have the ocean in their windows.

What You'll Love About Muirlands Vista Estate
• The ocean-view patio, where dinner goes straight from the gas BBQ grill to a table for six
• A long kitchen island with four stools at the breakfast bar
• Foosball and a fireplace in the lounge
• A Peloton ride with the ocean through the sliding door
• Four bedrooms and four full baths on one level, sleeping 8, a layout that suits a group

The Ocean-View Patio
Flagstone covers the patio, edged by a low stucco wall along its outer side. The gas BBQ grill stands at the end nearest the house, with the dining table just past it, so plates go from the grates to the table without anyone turning away from the view. Lunch runs long on the wicker sectional at the other end, which faces the ocean over the garden. On clear evenings the sun drops into the water in front of the table, and the stone stays warm after the light is gone. A stepping-stone path leads down into the garden.

The Primary Suite
At the far end of the bedroom wing, the primary suite has windows on several walls and a sliding door out to the garden. A curved loveseat and a sheepskin armchair make a sitting area apart from the king bed. Through the ensuite door, a soaking tub sits under a glass-block window beside a separate glass shower, and the walk-in closet holds everything the suitcases brought.

Lounge, Living, and Dining
The lounge holds the fireplace, with the foosball table by the windows and French doors out toward the patio, so a game and a fire can go at the same time. Next door, the living room runs nearly 26 feet along the view side, and its swivel chairs turn from the windows to the TV in the built-in cabinet. A round table under a beamed skylight sits at the kitchen end for breakfast. For a sit-down dinner, the formal dining room off the entry seats eight under a pendant light.

The Kitchen
Four stools line the breakfast bar on the island, across from the double sink and dishwasher on its working side. The gas cooktop is set into the wall counter under a second skylight. Two pantries and a second oven line the hall side.

Peloton, Desk, and Laundry
Set up in the laundry room, the Peloton faces a sliding door with the ocean beyond it. Behind the bike, the washer and dryer sit beside a utility sink. Guest Bedroom 3 has a desk with drawers beside the bed for a few hours of laptop work.

Nearby
WindanSea Beach is within two miles, down the hill, and the shops and restaurants of La Jolla Village are a short drive from the house. Muirlands West is a residential neighborhood of single-family homes on the slopes of Mount Soledad, and a car is the practical way to get around. San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the nearest airport.
